Personal Details

Bio

I have been involved with leadership, public speaking, and education for around 10 years now. In that time, I've given talks on disability, LGBTQ+ inclusivity, religion, and also worked in theatre which developed my self confidence and speaking skills incredibly.

I normally create my own slides, and have given talks on Zoom as well as in person. I was homeschooled, so I have been using Zoom for talks for years now, before it became well -known. My experience being homeschooled has also given a wider perspective on topics regarding education, bullying, and inclusivity.

Disability Leadership

The impact that disabled leaders have made worldwide, and what we can learn from them, even if you may not be disabled yourself.

Inclusive Practices for Campus Ministries and Religious Institutions

How to not only have an inclusive religious environment for disabled, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ individuals but also ensure it is affirming. This covers both accessibility recommendations, and how to ensure you are affirming of people, rather than simply accepting.

Coping with Medical PTSD while being Chronically Ill

For those of us who are often in and out of doctor's appointments, therapies, emergency rooms, and hospitals, this can lead to stress and anxiety that may lead to a PTSD diagnosis. However, a lot fo that trauma can stem from being told you're just anxious or it's all in your head. Because of that, it requires being careful in getting support for your emotional health while not being dismissed by professionals.

Growing Up Disabled and a Caretaker

I was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition in elementary school, at which point I had already had multiple eye surgeries. This didn't come as a surprise to my parents, as my dad shared the same condition (Marfan Syndrome) In addition to this, I am Autistic and have ADHD, similar to my siblings.

As the eldest daughter, this did lead to me being in a in-between space of both a caregiver and a patient. My parents ensured I did not take on too much at a young age, but that isn't always preventable.
