10,000 Hours of Ikigai: Three Insights from the Path to Purpose

Ikigai, a Japanese concept that can be interpreted as “your reason for being,” has been scientifically linked to longevity, productivity, and happiness. After a successful career in global asset management, Sam launched Ikigai Lab and has accumulated over 10,000 hours of experience supporting the discovery and implementation of ikigai for purpose-driven people around the world. Three key lessons from the ikigai journey will inspire insight, provide clarity, and prompt action to live with more intention.

The Purpose of Purpose on Purpose

Establish a clear foundation of values, talents, and strengths to support a successful, fulfilling career rooted in purpose, not passion. Learn the research behind purpose vs passion and build a greater understanding of self through the lens of ikigai, your reason for being.

Find Your Why: Ikigai Roadmap Design

Ikigai, a Japanese concept that can be interpreted as “your reason for being,” has been scientifically linked to longevity, productivity, and happiness.

Nearly two-thirds of US-based employees report that COVID-19 has caused them to reflect on their purpose in life, according to McKinsey. This session will provide the tools to discover your ikigai and create a roadmap of intentionality for professional and personal growth.

GROWTH redefined.

Over a 20-year corporate career, Sam coached thousands of financial advisors around the world. The word “growth” was everywhere in the industry, but narrowly defined by financial growth. That insight sparked awareness and inspired a mission to design sustainable ecosystems for incremental improvement in all phases of life. You’ll learn simple, yet impactful tools rooted in positive psychology and the Japanese philosophy of IKIGAI that will challenge you to redefine your personal definition of the word “growth.”

Purpose-Driven Leadership

How should organizations evolve to navigate the changing landscape of work? According to Gallup, 70% of the variance in employee engagement is the manager. Learn how to create a roadmap for a healthier, happier, and more successful organizational culture by equipping your leaders with the tools to link work to purpose, connection, and well-being.

Well-Being @ Work

76% of employee were experiencing burnout BEFORE the COVID-19 crisis, according to Gallup. The future of work is on the precipice of change as it embarks on the next evolution toward a purpose-driven economy. The roadmap for a successful, sustainable enterprise lies in embracing not just “financial well-being,” but total well-being. This presentation highlights key insights into the employee experience, client experience, and leadership journey
