Functional Longevity

How to be a KickAss 90 year old.

In 60 - 90 minutes I take participants on a 'reverse engineered' journey of their life. I start by looking at time of death and then identifying how health and functionality are connected. The audience will be offered a lighthearted but clear overview of how to delay the onset of chronic disease and compress the period of their life they spend with functional decline. Success metrics for this presentation are the number of people who commit to taking responsibility for their own health and making sustainable behavioural changes in all areas of their lives.

The presentation is developed to motivate employees to look at what factors they control that can significantly impact their personal physical and mental wellness. I want them to understand the need for long-term, sustainable, behavioral change in their lifestyles. I identify what health goals look like and then identify key focus areas for delaying or avoiding long term chronic health issues.

The first part gives an overview of the 3 key areas related to lifespan and an introduction into functional decline. In understandable language I connect length or 'period of life' with morbidity 'period of sickness' and the impact of chronic disease 'period of health'.

Before I discuss functionality, I focus the process model of change and how adaptability is a core human success trait. Functionality is then broken down into the 6 most important needs for a healthy life (3 physical and 3 mental). I then look at the 9 levers that have a direct impact on personal health. These are broken down into 3 base needs, 3 social/mindful supports and 3 bio-chemical concerns.

Wellness initiatives are undervalued because it is difficult to build effective metrics to assess their value. Many are focused on workplace wellness and fitness benefits that are often accessed by employees that would maintain their health regardless of employer support. We can all see the growing, chronic, mental and physical limitations in our aging workforce, and I want to help employees understand the impacts of their daily choices on their future functional abilities.

Functional Longevity - $450 (60-90 minutes)

Employee Coaching

Reducing Absenteeism with preventative programs including strategic coaching for habitually absent employees. Health & Wellness initiatives and Strategic Coaching that will improve adaptability and achieve behavioral change in individuals and teams. I am focused on identifying areas of change and improving physical and mental functionality. Adding value to existing wellness programs that make a measurable impact on company performance.
