When it comes to biases, we must understand that in the absence of details, our unconscious minds will fill in the gaps with information based on our lived experiences and that of others. In this session, participants will learn that we all have inner storytellers-or biases-that should not be exclusively viewed as good or bad. Instead, we need to become more conscious whether the story being told is still relevant, helpful, and positive.

I've performed this program a lot since the pandemic to help leaders, team members, teachers, and students not only survive but thrive through the power of connection. World-renowned leadership expert Kenston Henderson says if you're doing life alone, you're doing it all wrong. The ability to connect with others is a major determining factor in reaching your full potential. Connecting is a skill you can learn and apply in your personal, professional, and family relationships and you can start now by building and fostering a community that will walk alongside.

2020 has been a year full of multiple global pandemics from COVID to racial unrest, to parents forced to be at home teachers. This talk will ignite, inspire and empower participants to keep moving forward in spite of hard times, knowing there will be an ultimate come back. Les Brown says if you can look up, you can get up. If we can just fall forward, we can keep moving towards our goals, dreams, and be amazing during hard times.

Parenting Like a BOSS- Intentionally Committed

Imagine for a moment that your children are screaming at the top of their lungs…“I have the best parents in the world!!” Can you visualize that? I can almost imagine you grinning from ear to ear, chest up, shoulders back, with a smirk and a nod in tow as if to say…. YES I AM!

But then COVID happens...racial unrest surfaces, and a heated political battle all take place simultaneously and you can’t help but slowly wish for a room (or a moment) in your home to hide. Well parents, despite what life may throw at us, it’s time for us to take several deep breaths, pull out our Parenting Like a BOSS capes and make the decision that no matter what comes our way, we will choose to be the awesome parents we were always meant to be.

  • Kenston was the keynote for our Nationwide Children's Hospital YOU Matter Staff Support Program Celebration week. He spoke on "The Power of Connection, Curiosity and Winning Conversations." He balanced the stressors of 2020 with the perfect amount of honesty and lightheartedness. He interacted with the group utilizing his energy and the chat box to keep people engaged and connected. Working with Kenston was wonderful. He was clear in how he approaches speaking engagements, modified for a virtual event and knocked the ball out of the park. Given the opportunity I would work with Kenston again without any reservations! Well done Kenston!

  • Kenston Henderson is a great orator and motivational speaker. Kenston provided the Franklin County Clerk of Courts with informational sessions that included Implicit Bias, Conflict Resolution, Customer Service and Sexual Harassment. The feedback from employees was always very positive and the take always leave the employees empowered. I highly recommend Kenston as a motivational speaker; he is insightful & energetic. Kenston is able to bring a quiet group to life and invoke thought provoking conversation so that the subject matter can be appreciated from many different aspects.

  • Our association hosted its first conference since the shelter-at-home order was issued.  And since things are still “hot” across the country, we decided that it would be a VIRTUAL conference.  I had a lot of angst around this decision. “Would our attendees feel connected and engaged after so many hours in front of their computers?”  In hindsight, my worries seem silly now. Kenston marvelously used the virtual platform to interact with our 100+ group.  His energy and humor maintained the day’s momentum and was an integral part of the conference’s success.  Well-informed on the subject matter, Kenston spoke candidly and yet respectfully about the touchy issues.  He did this while simultaneously validating our humanness and vulnerability to err.  When you know better, then you can do better.  Thank you, Kenston… because now we know…better.

  • I have had the pleasure of not only working with Kenston but knowing him personally. I have seen Kenston grow from a young man with big dreams to actually living his dream. From the time I met Kenston he has known what he wanted to do and be, he just needed the right opportunity at the right time to shine. What you see and hear from him is real and what he speaks is his truth in which he has learned by trial and error and lead by his faith. I personally recommend Kenston for any speaking engagement and personal development need that one might have. I am proud to have been a part of his journey to success.

  • The City of Findlay has had the pleasure of having Kenston conduct training for it's managers and supervisors. The training sessions that Kenston facilitated were Building Trust and Mentor, Advisor and Coach. It is quite obvious that Kenston has a passion for training and seeing others benefit from that passion. I was impressed with the fact that he arrived 30 minutes early to ensure everything for his presentation was in working order. He also has a way of relating to all types of participates and bringing them into the conversation; so much of learning is not only what the presenter teaches us, but what we learn from each other as we begin to engage. We hope to continue partnering with Kenston and the City of Columbus Citywide Training & Development for many years to come.

Kenston taught us five practical ways that we can implement personally and professionally along with his proprietary R.E.M method. Kenston's passion and enthusiasm left us all wanting more and most importantly we walked away feeling equipped and empowered to have winning conversations.

  • Kenston worked as consultant and trainer with Big Brother Big Sisters and worked with our largest client this summer. In this capacity, our agency served New American youth, with 100+ trainings over an eight week period. Kenston displayed the ability to jump right in with little on the job training and facilitated his own sessions with up to 40 participants per session ranging from ages 4 to 14. Within his first two sessions the coordinator of one location emailed us informing us of their level of satisfaction as well as the excitement the students displayed within their first training sessions. Each week his students gleamed and awaited his dynamic style and lessons. His level of adaptability, enthusiasm and willingness to go above and beyond made him a huge asset to our training team.

  • Kenston is an engaging presenter and well versed on the topic of implicit bias. He presented at our association's annual conference. Given the state of affairs, the event moved from in-person to virtual and Kenston adapted to make sure that we still engaged the audience. He applied different strategies to make sure participants were active in the session. Through various polls, reflection exercises, etc., Kenston made the presentation come to life. Working with Kenston was wonderful as he asked great questions to tailor the presentation to the audience, providing examples that would truly resonate with crowd. Kenston did a wonderful job discussing this subject. This is certainly a topic that our entire administrative team needs to discuss on a regular basis. • Kenston brings a warm, comfortable and fun environment, to a self exploration into topics that could be tough under other circumstances. His presentation helps us dive into our thoughts, feelings and experiences, to better understand our bias, and how our preconceptions fuel our tendencies. Which in turn helps us better view and learn about the world and the people we share it with.  No matter how aware and woke a person maybe, they all have the opportunity to walk away from the presentation with a new perspective to chew on

  • I am a member of a networking group for wedding professionals. I had Kenston speak at one of our recent meetings regarding diversity and implicit bias. I knew it'd be a different and potentially uncomfortable subject matter for the attendees; yet I also knew it was necessary in order for our local wedding community to think outside of their boxes and what they're used to. I have gotten so many positive comments on Kenston and his presentation. He did a wonderful job, was very professional, and knew his subject matter. He was very engaging with the audience and got people thinking. Excellent job!
