Peter holds a MSc in land use planning, and a MPA in crisis and disaster management.
He started his career in 1992 as fire officer in the regional fire brigade of the Hague. He acted as liaison of the fire brigade to the police force and was involved in a broad range of security operations like, state visits, planning for terroristic attacks, demonstrations and security of critical infrastructure
He joined in 2004 as deputy head the National Operations Centre of the Netherlands. He was involved in risk analysis, risk management and crisis response planning in the Netherlands.
In 2012 peter left the government service and works nowadays also part time as a private consultant in international crisis and disaster management with specific expertise in flooding, organising international disaster response and host nation support.
Peter has been head of coordination teams deployed in the Netherlands and to other countries.
Peter Glerum is working part time as safety and security advisor for Mensen met een Missie. He is responsible for the safety and security policy of the organisation and member of the crisis management team.
