Nnamdi Eseme is a writer, public speaker, junior academic, sexual and reproductive health and rights advocate and an anti female genital mutilation campaigner. Identified as one of Nigeria's leading young change-makers in the field of sexual and reproductive health, Nnamdi uses public speaking and his strong oratory skills to mobilise and galvanize the strength of young people to be active players in driving processes that affect them.
So far, he has trained over 300 youth across Nigeria on using social change communications to address some of the most pressing challenges such as unemployment, poor access to contraception, harmful cultural practices, etc affecting youth in Nigeria. He has conducted over 10 training-of-trainers (ToT) sessions across Nigeria to develop the capacity of advocates on values clarification and attitudes transformation through public speaking. Furthermore, he uses his excellent writing skills to articulate innovative ways of addressing current challenges affecting young people to wider global debates. As testament to this, he was nominated in 2016 for the 120 under 40 next generation family planning awards and some of his work has been published by international organisations such as Thomson Reuters Foundation, Women deliver, HIV/AIDS Alliance, AVERT, Crowd360, among others.
Nnamdi has participated in several high profile meetings such as the Women Deliver Conference, HIV Reporting for Prevention Conference, Trust Women Conference, Family Planning 2020 Stakeholders Consultative Meeting, among others. Nnamdi identifies as an unapologetic feminist and an excellent troublemaker.
Currently, Nnamdi works with Baze University, Nigeria and serves as technical adviser to the youth network against female genital mutilation, an NGO that addresses seeks the abandonment of the practice of female genital mutilation in Nigeria through learning, unlearning and relearning of social norms.
