Bio

Noah Schultz is a social innovator, spoken word poet and youth advocate from Portland, Oregon, who is passionate about bringing services to underprivileged youth. Having served seven-and-a-half years in prison, he has a personal connection and motivation to drive reform in our justice system through humanizing the stories of the incarcerated, raising awareness around mass incarceration. Noah’s talks lead with vulnerability and tactically engage with the hearts of the audience, this creates a space where the presence of our interconnectedness is undeniable. Noah is co-owner of Forgotten Culture Clothing, co-founder of Verbal Escape and subject of the award winning documentary “Perception: Prison to Purpose.”

Embracing Adversity

Traumatic and stressful life events are a part of our existence. Through embracing whats outside of our own control we unleash an inner peace during moments of extreme hardship. This spoken word poetry presentation is focused on finding the purpose in the pain and lessons in the madness.

Perception From Prison to Purpose

This presentation will include a screening of my documentary Perception from Prison to Purpose followed by a presentation and interactive Q&A. The film features my story of serving a 7.5 year sentence within Oregon's youth correctional system and how I went from a gang involved high school drop out to college graduate and youth advocate.

Youth Led Coalition Building

Participants will learn how to leverage their current positions, create resource circles and talk about ways to build partnerships with other youth and community partners. This presentation teaches young people how to amplify their impact through identifying key stakeholders and resources for their project, or cause.

Vision, Strategy, Action is a 6 month curriculum centered around lifestyle design, mindset and goal setting for incarcerated and under privileged youth. This full day workshop delivers the core principles covered in the full curriculum through an interactive storytelling experience.

Improving Engagement Through Youth Led Programming

This workshop is centered on elevating youth voice through apprenticed leadership and youth led programming. The session will hold a two-part focus on how to best implement youth leadership practices in closed custody and community settings.
