Bio

I am a product leader with over a decade of experience in building customer-centric, B2B SaaS user experiences. Most notably, I spent almost 7 years building Splash into one of the world's leading event marketing platforms. After Splash, I moved on to Guru, where I led product teams as we combined intuitive UX with innovative technology to power internal knowledge bases for many of the world's top companies.

Outside of my day jobs, I have also launched multiple consumer-facing products focused on my passion for travel and anxiety-free productivity, passions that I still frequently write about on my personal website (https://jonsaft.com/).

How to Sunset Problematic Features

Whether it's because of sentimental value or a loud minority of customers, saying goodbye to features can be hard. But it doesn't have to be.

Let's talk about the different options we have when it comes to how to deal with features or functionality that are draining more resources than they are worth.

Why it might be time to redefine "Product Manager"

Brian Chesky recently caused quite a stir when he announced that Airbnb was removing the Product Management function.

While PMs everywhere scrambled to justify their worth, my reaction was a little different. What if, instead of defending our right to exist, we took a minute to assess how we are spending our time?

Let's talk about how product managers can be most valuable to an organization, and the two most important skills a PM can have:

1. Execution
2. Communication

How to schedule your day, according to biology

Some of us are morning people, some of us feel better at night.

But all of us have common biology that can guide us to make the most of our energy levels at different times of the day.

According to recent studies, we all have ideal times for deep work, collaborative work, research, etc. So why not optimize our schedules accordingly?
