Jackie Warner is a current higher education technology professional, disability and neurodiversity speaker, and writer. She works to advocate for people with disabilities, including those who might be neurodivergent. Jackie has worked with people with disabilities from birth through adulthood, and is familiar with how employers, community services, and other organizations can support people with disabilities and allow them to fully access society. Jackie has multiple invisible disabilities and is neurodivergent herself.

From Recruitment to Retention - Supporting Employees with Disabilities

In June 2024, Jackie will be speaking on a panel at the National Association of Colleges and Employers virtual conference. She joins other career professionals with disabilities who will share their experiences as an employee with disabilities, and will provide information and tips on employing people with disabilities starting with recruitment, and ending with retaining them.

Supporting Neurodiverse Students in Career Services

Jackie gave a one hour webinar for the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) on how career services professionals can best support students who are neurodivergent in their work. She spoke to specific strategies and provided a virtual toolkit that professionals can reference later.

How Career Services Can Support Neurodivergent Students

Jackie was interviewed for the "Career Everywhere" podcast and discussed how career services professionals can support students who are neurodiverse and also touched on supporting students with disabilities. This podcast is one of their most listened and shared, and was also made into a written interview for the UConnect blog.

What is Neurodiversity? Panel

Jackie was invited to speak on a panel at the University of Utah with the topic "What is Neurodiversity?". She spoke to her journey of diagnosis, how she works best and what strategies she uses in her everyday life as well as in her career. Jackie also gave advice to students who asked questions, and her overall advice was to always be yourself - don't mask your neurodiversity to please others, it isn't worth it!

Supporting Students with Disabilities as part of DEI in Career Services

Jackie presented to a DEI Professional Development group made up of career services professionals. Jackie spoke to the background of disabilities and neurodiversity and how they fit into the scope of DEI. She also elaborated on ways that career services professionals can support students with disabilities in their offices and in the career search.

Supporting Students with Disabilities in Career Services

In June 2024, Jackie will be speaking at the National Association of Colleges and Employers virtual conference on the topic of Supporting Students with Disabilities in Career Services. Jackie makes the content accessible and engaging by providing a padlet that attendants can use to ask questions and access resources just as a toolkit and view the slide deck.

Guest Lecturer - Thomas Jefferson University

Jackie is a reoccurring guest lecturer at Thomas Jefferson University in the Life Sciences career development course. She speaks to DEI topics, how to ask about DEI during interviews as well as how to research if a company has a good DEI program. Jackie also advises students on requesting accommodations and what to do if those are denied and/or not being honored.

Neurodiversity - the Basics and Beyond

In March 2024, Jackie will be speaking at Seton Hill University on the topic of Neurodiversity to the Social Work program. She will address students and faculty and give an introduction to neurodiversity, how it may impact people in the community, and how they can best support potential future students, clients and anyone else they may work with.
