Hip Hop: A Bridge To The Future For Our Youth

This dynamic training session will assist with bridging the gap between teachers and their African American and Hispanic students, and will offer new concepts on how to reduce truancy, connect with students, and increase the graduation rate.

This workshop will be impactful for teachers and administrators who desire a better understanding of the influence that pop culture, music, and media have on African American and Hispanic boys. During the session we will explore some of the content and images in popular culture that can have a negative impact on children, but I will also shed light on how to use positive elements from pop culture to reach goals in the classroom.

The workshop will include four main objectives:
- Adaptive learning through music and media in the classroom
- Improving digital literacy to connect with students
- Understanding the impact that stereotypes have in the
classroom
- Bridging gaps in literacy and language
