Make Retention Stick - Mastering the Stay Interview

A stay interview is the key to uncovering the real reasons why your employees are dedicated and loyal. By engaging in meaningful conversations with each of them, you can discover what influenced their decision to join your organization, as well as gain insight into which aspects they enjoy most (and least!). Moreover, it's a great way for managers to get an honest assessment of how effectively objectives or dreams are being fulfilled at work - plus any potential areas that may be causing staff members to consider leaving!

Forbes recently shared the benefits of stay interviews, demonstrating why organizations should consider them. According to their insights, these sessions can help you identify patterns and areas in need of improvement as well as gain a better understanding of what your staff needs for continued success. Most importantly, they also provide insight into employees' underlying motivations – something that has proven essential for today's workplace environment!

This 1-hour session will provide insight into how to lead and manage a narcissist. It will cover topics such as understanding the traits of narcissism, recognizing manipulative behavior, and developing strategies for dealing with a narcissistic leader.

Brenda begins by introducing the concept of narcissism and its associated traits, such as grandiosity, entitlement, and lack of empathy. Participants will learn to identify the signs of narcissism in a leader and understand the effects of narcissistic behavior on the workplace. We will also explore strategies for dealing with a narcissistic leader, such as setting boundaries, establishing expectations, and maintaining professional distance.
We will also cover strategies for managing narcissistic behavior, such as providing clear direction and feedback, responding promptly and positively to queries, and investing in team-building activities.

How To Teach Your Employees To Confidently Survive an Active Shooter Without Having To Incite Fear

Having a plan that works for you and not against you is the best course of action for any business, however, for many, especially those who have not implemented crisis management plans in the past, we have entered new territory. Ambiguity leads to confusion and creates more uncertainty and fear. This is something we all need to avoid. Thankfully, there are steps employers can take to prepare their workforce, encourage certain behaviors and manage the business environment effectively, so employees can continue to remain engaged and reduce the risk of panic and concern.

These steps are the basis of crisis management and often seem commonsense, however, in a crisis it is more difficult to remain calm and think or behave in a considered way.

  • Brenda did a great job of presenting "The five things I learned from working with Navy Seals" to our local Human Resources Chapter. She was engaging and articulate and well received by our group. As the Program Director for Hampton Roads SHRM I would not hesitate to ask her to return for another speaking event and would highly recommend Brenda. You will not be disappointed.

  • Brenda recently provided our Portsmouth Rotary Club new food for thought regarding management's role in dealing with human resources issues. Drawing on her extensive related background, she cited numerous examples how companies can protect their legal interests, while addressing employee concerns. Without hesitation, I'd recommend that a forward-thinking company consider her HR consulting expertise. --Steve Milner, Portsmouth Rotary Club member, retired public affairs officer from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and someone who worked at five Fortune 500 companies.
