Lul Mohamud

Young and dynamic leader of The Person Center, a small nonprofit organization, dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence from the African Immigrant and Refugee community in the DC-Area. An advocate for culturally-specific services that utilize a trauma-informed and person-centered approach. Spearheads interventions and educational programs that are tailored to encapsulating the variety of experiences - both individual and collective - that shape the well-being and needs of this population.

Lul Mohamud completed her Bachelor's in Neuroscience and African American Studies at Boston University. She also completed a Master's in Public Health in Global Health, Community Health Development with a certificate in mental health at Emory University. She specialized in trauma research, and her focus is on addressing and treating trauma in communities that experience intergenerational, structural, and conflict-related violence - especially displaced persons and refugees. After 4 years of work as a student organizer against sexual and gender-based violence, she continued to focus on women of color who experience sexual and domestic violence in communities here in the US and abroad. As a vocal and innovative leader, Lul continues to take on the sexual and domestic violence crisis that exists around the world through a justice-oriented and equity-based approach.
