His substantial and unique professional contributions to his profession have been recognized by his title of Fellow in the American Psychological Association (APA), the Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES). Dr. Shapiro's Leadership and Service was first recognized when he was awarded the Percival C. Norris Leadership Award upon graduation from Providence Country Day School. Education By Entertainment Programs

Our TV Game Show Style Programs show how people think and process information so that they may become safer, better performers and better communicators at work, school and home. Everyone participates in group activities. Selected adventuresome members of the audience participate in on stage activities. All programs are applicable, educational & a ton of fun!!! Sample programs described below:

Mind Games With Science

Program begins by presenting a model of everything people do, from the time information touches their sensory receptors until they respond. We then participate in games and activities that show our capabilities and limitations as we process information at every stage along the way. We discuss ways to improve our job and school performance and communication skills based upon what we learn.

Games to Explain Human Information Processing

A program designed for educators and other professionals to demonstrate how people think so that they can improve their teaching and communication skills. The program is presented as a game show illustrating human strengths and limitations. Following each game we discuss how what we just observed can help us to become better teachers and professionals.

Effective Leadership Involves Working Through Others

One of the most critical changes an individual needs to make when transitioning from being an outstanding individual contributor to becoming an effective manager is working through others rather than trying to "do it all themselves." This program is effective for individuals thinking about transitioning to management as well as new leaders and managers.

Understanding Thinking for Ethical Management

A thorough understanding of what people can and cannot do is vital to ethically manage people. We develop that understanding through interactive activities which illustrate a variety of human capabilities and limitations followed by a discussion of whether it would be ethical or unethical to ignore the concept discussed. Concepts are easy to remember. Program is fun!

Make Your Resume ROAR (Results Oriented And Relevant)
2 hours
(View workshop agenda)

Recruiters and managers frequently select job candidates for further consideration based upon their resumes. Oftentimes resumes are rather boring. They simply present lists of tasks assigned in previous positions, whereas potential employers are most interested in what job candidates will do for the potential employer supported by evidence of accomplishments. This workshop shows job candidates how to develop an outstanding resume which may help them secure a great job. (Workshop length is based upon client needs.)

  • Talk about audience participation, this session was a blast — it’s not often that you have blindfolded market researchers at a conference! Wrapped into the fun and games of this game show-style session were serious messages about how people (both customers and researchers) think and process information, and how by understanding that we can become more effective researchers and communicators.

  • By employing a “game show” motif to deliver informative insights into how people interpret and process information, Ron successfully engages audiences, holds their interest and gets them to actively participate. Audiences have fun and learn useful and highly applicable information without realizing it. If you are looking to slot someone into your conference who will perk up you attendees, look no further.
