Bio

Salty Vixen means I was a Vixen in a Salty situation (I took negative meaning and turned it into positive) that happened the summer of 2004, I was sexually harassed and sexually assaulted by several men. It took me a long time to come to terms with what had happened as it was a trauma that I never. ever want to experience. Many women that summer experienced it and you couldn't do anything, you couldn't report it, so while the men got away with it, us women, we learned to move on and forget - that isn't right. I am taking back the power and I want to share my story.

Taking the power back

18 June 2004, I was drinking vodka with 2 men at the party. one man left and the other man took me to the dance floor, I told him I needed water. I was, at this point, drunk, he said "later". He then took me outside the party tent, and french kissed me three times. I tried to get away from him but then he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer, then we walked to the 'stands' at the place and sexually assaulted, to which I had told him "NO" the response was "you wanted it! you want this!" I said "I don't want this!" I saw him again in 2016, and I am photographed on Getty Images at this charity event, I look like I saw a ghost, when it was him who I saw. The trauma returned and I hid in the sand instead of moving past it. Others at the charity, I knew from 2004, made me feel unwelcome there because I was the only women in the group that turned any of them down for sex. Women we do not give sexual favors, just because a man gave us a bottle of beer.
