I was diagnosed with narcolepsy 3 years ago when I was 22 years old, but my journey started two decades (20 years) before that. I was misdiagnosed with ADHD, ODD, anxiety, and depression growing up, but it was actually narcolespy all along. This journey made me want to be an advocate for narcolepsy. I am a volunteer EMT and firefighter (not currently active because of school), in the electroneurodiagnostic technology program with only two more semesters until I graduate. I work two different PRN jobs at the university hospital which are an unit partner in the medicine specialty unit and a monitor technician in the EMU (epilepsy monitoring unit). I am the facilittator for the young adults with narcolepsy support group through Wake Up Narcolepsy. I a past member of Rising Voices of Narcolepsy through Project Sleep.
