Hi, I'm Sharlene Gumbs, a passionate CEO & Founder of Phoenix Recovery & Wellness, dedicated to revolutionizing mental health treatment and education across organizations and for individuals. With over 15 years as a social worker and psychotherapist, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the psychological and emotional complexities facing diverse populations in various settings.
My academic journey at York University, where I completed both my Bachelor and Master of Social Work, laid the foundation for my career. These programs honed my skills in critical thinking, program development, and clinical practice, graduating with top honors that underscored my commitment to excellence and advocacy in social work.
Professionally, I’ve navigated roles from frontline therapy to senior management across Ontario, Alberta, and BC. My time at EHN Canada as an Outpatient Manager for Mood/Anxiety and Workplace Trauma Programs allowed me to design and lead innovative clinical treatments. At Home Suite Hope, I redeveloped the ReStart program and launched Homeward Bound Halton, showcasing my ability to lead, innovate, and manage complex programs effectively.
As the co-owner and psychotherapist at Motivating Change Counselling Services, I bridged gaps in mental health care, focusing on PTSD, trauma, anxiety, and depression. My specialized training in Trauma-Informed Therapy, CBT, and DBT has enabled me to provide nuanced and effective treatment for individuals and groups, including first responders.
In 2023, I took my vision further by establishing Phoenix Recovery & Wellness. My mission: to shift workplace cultures towards psychological safety, diversity, and inclusion. I’ve designed workshops that challenge and inspire, fostering environments where mental wellness is not just a priority but a reality.
Let's connect and collaborate on making mental wellness accessible and prioritized for everyone.
Together, we can create spaces where individuals feel safe, supported, and empowered to achieve their fullest potential.
