While he was running stores, and then, while he was running HR departments, Scott watched too many good people get run out, run down, and run over. He realized the greatest differentiator wasn't what a business sold, it was the relationships the business had with their people, their customers, and their constituents. Unfortunately, all too often, those relationships were toxic, and too many retailers were running out of time.
So, in 2010, Scott decided to do something about it. As he was earning Master’s in Organizational Leadership, he realized the most effective leaders aligned what they did, said, valued, and expected. As he wrote his thesis, he knew there was more he wanted to say and do. The foundation of his book, ALIGNMENT, came from that thesis, and was written to help leaders build healthy, reciprocal relationships with their people by aligning what they do, say, value, and expect. While his passion might have started in the retail world, his work transcends any industry that has employees.
Scott has been called a "why sayer", an "unconventional optimist", and "the tide that raises all ships" because he has the bold vision of saving corporate America one bad boss at a time. Fascinated by how everybody has a story about working for a bad boss, but almost nobody has a story about being a bad boss, Scott has devoted his life to helping leaders see themselves as others see them, inspiring leaders to find their voice, and teaching leaders how alignment can engage the best their people have to offer.
Since 2010, Scott has spoken on stages all across Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Indiana, and California.
