Bio

My career is as a global organizational and leadership development expert, executive and team coach, and strategist focused on inclusive leadership and developing strategies for advancing women and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). It sounds fancy, but I basically help people to live their best most authentic lives, lead authentically, and get along with others.

My work has led me to some incredible places around the world from Kuwait to India to Latin America to China and all over the US. I believe life, leadership, inclusion, frankly all of the topics I speak about, are complex, therefore I share with humor and authenticity...sometimes we just have to laugh at ourselves and the situations we are in.

I use an audience centric approach to ensure audiences are engaged, walking away with tangible actions, and feeling the time with me was worthwhile. We are all too busy to waste each other's time.

All of my topics will fit into multiple formats and will work with all audience sizes. I'll even discuss creating custom events on the topics I am well versed in or find you a suitable alternative. Whatever your goals, I'll work with you to deliver what will meet your hopes and dreams.

I look forward to talking with you about your event!

Simplifying Bias

We all have bias. There, I said it. And it's OK. Bias is a part of
how we are wired. Unfortunately, many times unrecognized bias can cause us to act in a way that doesn't have the impact we intend.

We also can't fix what we can't see. Therefore the journey to managing bias, whether it's individual or systemic, starts with creating awareness of what bias is and how it impacts our lives. Only then can we begin to learn how to manage bias.

In this presentation, whether it's a 45 minute keynote or a 180-minute course, we will start the conversation of what bias is, how it impacts us, and what to do about it. The focus is on how to identify bias in the things we hear and see in order to begin to reduce it's impact on our day to day lives.

Participants will walk away with new awareness and actionable
steps to manage bias and move closer allyship and inclusion.

Creating Inclusive Cultures

Being inclusive is no longer just nice to have. it is fundamental to being a member of a high performing team- no matter where you sit in the organization. An inclusive culture is one where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work and thrive.

In these turbulent times, so many know they want to do
something about inequity, but don’t know where to start. Unfortunately, concerns about saying the wrong thing or
having difficult conversations lead many to do nothing. Creating awareness about the issues of diversity & inclusion is
the first place to start . During this session, we will
discuss the importance of being an inclusive leader in
order to create an environment where all can thrive.

The objective of this course is to invite those on the edges into the conversation about diversity, equity, and inclusion. It's the place to start.

Participants will walk away with new awareness and actionable
steps to manage bias and move closer allyship and inclusion.

Stop Being Indespensible

Have you heard any of these phrases: “it would take three people to replace you” or “I can’t imagine how we could do this without you” or “you’re indispensable”? If so, you could be at risk of being
blocked in your career.

Have you said any of those phrases? If so, you might be a barrier to the growth of someone.

For many women, those phrases feel like compliments; we keep our head down, we work hard, we take on more, and we wait to get tapped for that next promotion; these phrases feel like
acknowledgement of our good work. Unfortunately, once we become indispensable we're at risk of being blocked from achieving our highest potential.

During this very popular session, whether it's a keynote or workshop, we'll explore: What it means to be indispensable and the potential consequences, the impact on us when we work this way, and actions to keep our career on track. For managers, how to lead those at risk of being indispensable. This topic can be for any gender audience.

  • My organization has had the pleasure of having Sarah speak to our members on a number of occasions. First, at our Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium in Napa, CA to an audience of 750 women and men in the beverage alcohol industry as a Keynote speaker on the topic of Unconscious Bias. Sarah did a great job keeping the presentation engaging, interesting and highly educational. Subsequently, Sarah has hosted numerous webinars for our members as well. Each time, Sarah has adapted her presentation and speaking skills to her audience with a keen understanding of how to connect and engage with the participants. I highly recommend Sarah Bettman as an expert in DE&I and a fantastic public speaker.
