Martin Moran is the lead designer and founding director of the Bennett Day Upper School in Chicago, IL. He has over 15 years experience in both public and independent schools. Martin has built a truly student-centered high school based on personalized, project-based and purposeful learning. He has spoken on any number of subjects in the field of learning, ranging from Social and Emotional Learning in school design to the role of technology and equity in education.
In Martin's previous role as Director of Design and Innovation at the Francis W. Parker School, he helped design the TIDES program, a concrete effort to maximize the tools (technology, design, entrepreneurial skills) of the 21st century to provide students with learning experiences that will make them impactful, socially conscious leaders in a globalizing world.
Martin has been named an NAIS “Teacher of the Future” for his use of technology and innovation in the classroom. He has presented at SxSW Edu, the National Conference for the Social Studies, the Traverse Conference, the Progressive Education Network National Conference, and has written two books: a field guide for progressive educators and a thematic world history text for high school students.
