Bio

A true beacon of hope and inspiration, Senator Robinson has been breaking barriers and making an indelible impact on her community and beyond. With her unwavering dedication to public service and unyielding commitment to uplifting others, she has become a role model and advocate for positive change and a shining example of resilience.

Born and raised in Memphis, Senator Robinson's journey began with a passion for creating positive change in her community. Early on, she recognized the power of education as a catalyst for transformation and dedicated herself to empowering the youth. As a result, she founded The Healthcare Institute Inc., , Tennessee's only Black Owned nursing school - focusing on providing healthcare training and educational resources to underserved communities. This pioneering initiative has opened doors for hundreds of individuals to pursue their dreams and build fulfilling careers in the medical field.

Senator Robinson's dedication to her community naturally led her to the political arena. In 2018, she made history by becoming the first African American woman to represent District 33 in the Tennessee Senate. Katrina was elected to the Tennessee State Senate, unseating a 12 year incumbent in a landslide 3:1 victory. Her historic victory was a testament to the faith her constituents placed in her ability to champion their needs and aspirations. She delivered as an instrumental force in crafting legislation that addresses crucial issues such as healthcare access, economic development, and criminal justice reform. She rose quickly to leadership in her new elected position, serving on the Senate Judiciary Committee and Tennessee Advisory Commission for Intergovernmental Relations. She was also elected as an executive committee member of the National Black Caucus and Secretary of the Tennessee Black Caucus. She was also named as Emerging Leader of the Year 2019.

Katrina’s honors include 2019 Executive of the Year Memphis Business Journal nominee, 2018 Barack Obama Award for Woman of the Year, 2017 Memphis Business Journal Top 40 Under 40, 2017 Memphis Business Journal Super Women in Business Executive Profile, 2016 Greater Memphis Chamber Top Young Memphian, and 2016 the New Tri-State Defender Woman of Excellence.

Katrina is the proud mother of Jaden and Amaya, nationally recognized entrepreneurs, named Black Enterprise Magazine’s Teen Entrepreneurs of the Year 2017.

When Senator Robinson isn't busy championing her constituents' causes or advocating for change, you'll find her engaging in community events, mentoring young leaders, and actively participating in initiatives that uplift the less privileged.

In her roles as a senator, entrepreneur, and community champion, Senator Katrina Robinson epitomizes the spirit of hope and transformation. Her story is one of perseverance, dedication, and resilience, inspiring all who hear it to believe in the power of their dreams and the positive impact they can make in their communities.
