Bio

Gina Alexandris - About Me: A wide variety of experiences have shaped me and offer me helpful insights that I bring to the role of Career Coach & Consultant. Over the years, I have had the privilege to work with thousands of individuals to support them in their professional development, at various stages, and with a number of organizations.

My beliefs and values have been shaped by my professional and academic experiences, as well as by my experience as the daughter of Greek immigrants to Canada. I live with my husband and son in Toronto.

Past “formal” roles include: Senior Director, Law Practice Program at TMU (formerly Ryerson University); and Special Advisor to the Lincoln Alexander School of Law. I have also been the Director of the Strategic Planning Unit with the Legal Services Division at the Ministry of the Attorney General; Director of the Internationally Trained Lawyers Program at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law; and Assistant Dean and Director of Career Services at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to that, I practised civil litigation and family law.

Lifelong learning is a core, fundamental value and passion of mine. Training and certification includes a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Masters of Education Degree in Adult Education from OISE, a Certificate of Completion for the Art and Practice of Leadership Development Program at the Harvard Kennedy School. I am also a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and Associate Certified Coach (ICF) with the International Coaching Federation. I am passionate about personal and professional success and development, leadership, diversity and inclusion and developing strong relationships and networks.

You can learn more about me through some of the articles I have written in the Huffington Post. Feel free to connect through my website or on LinkedIn.

Lessons From My Parents - the Immigrant Diaries

Canada is a vibrant, multicultural country which people from across the globe, with tremendous variety in experiences and backgrounds, have made their home. As a storyteller, networker, leadership coach and constant learner, living in an immigrant household, within a multicultural city and country, and having the benefit of often working with immigrants from around the globe, I have learned much from bright, engaged people who achieve success in a variety of areas as they contribute to the fabric of Canada. They are our best kept secret and I want to more broadly share the hundreds of positive stories I have had the privilege of hearing about and been inspired by.

Understanding and celebrating these stories of strength, success and leadership ensures the continued development of our beautiful Canadian tapestry.

Networking Authentically for Women (30-45 minute Keynote)

Networking.
Most women have a love/hate relationship with this term.
Research even shows that people feel "dirty" just thinking about it!

And yet...we are all told all too often just how important it is to our careers and professional development.

In this presentation, we look at different perspectives about networking that can move us forward more positively, so we can engage authentically and powerfully in our own careers.

There may be challenges, but we move to overcome them and build our personal toolkit and find new, innovative and true-to-ourselves ways of expanding our professional relationships and opportunities.
