Bio

Gavata Smith is an Author, Mime, Teacher, Motivational Speaker, Licensed Minister, Project Management and Agile Professional. She is also a Catholic Charities Volunteer who mentors women returning home from incarceration, the daughter of a recovering drug addict, a victim and survivor of sexual abuse, and the granddaughter of the nationally known deceased Bishop Walter "Sweet Daddy" McCollough.

Gaváta’s ministry license is held by Mount Calvary Holy Churches of America. She attends Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church in Washington, DC under the leadership of Archbishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr. where she is the President of the Silent Witnesses Mime Ministry. Gaváta who is also known as Mym4Christ (pronounced MIME for Christ), has her own individual mime ministry where she ministers virtually and in person throughout the world

Her published debut book GET YOURSELF TOGETHER FIRST, is a true story which primarily focuses on first the brokenness and abuse, then the healing and restoration between a mother and daughter after the mother’s 24 year crack addiction. This book has become the catalyst for her life’s mission which is encouraging reunification in families torn by the scars of addiction. She has spoken about this on a wide variety of platforms including media outlets such as The Good Word (FOX5DC), All Things Baltimore (WMAR-TV), FOX 45 Baltimore, The Daily Drum (WHUR 96.3 / Sirius XM141), Great Day Washington (WUSA-9), AWIC – WBGR Network, What’s The Deal, Testimony Tuesday, and Forgiveness Friday Podcasts.

Professionally, Gaváta works as an IT Professional and Systems Trainer for the Federal Government, utilizing Agile Methodologies and holding certifications as a Project Management Professional® (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) and Certified Agile Leader® (CAL-E,CAL-T). Additionally, she has over 25 years of experience as a detailed oriented executive office administrator.

As commissioned Notary of the State of Maryland, she is the owner and CEO of Gavata.org (Gavata dot org, LLC) d.b.a. Maryland Mobile Notary and Consulting Service.

Gaváta holds a Leadership in Ministry Degree with teacher credentials from Evangelical Training Association (ETA), an Associates in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan University but she has also attended the University of Maryland and Calvary Bible Institute where she graduated from Homiletics under the instruction of Archbishop Alfred A. Owens Jr.

Sharing information and her life's experiences with others, consulting, helping, advising and encouraging them, are a few of the many things that Minister Gavata finds most fulfilling. She enjoys communicating, building alliances, writing, envisioning, traveling, and creating, yet with all of her enthusiasm and all that she does, she makes it clear that her ultimate love is for God, her 4 children and 13 grandchildren.
