Personal Details

Bio

90% of what “sinks” people’s relationships (with themselves and others) lies beneath the surface of the stories they tell.

Faith Wood is on a mission to radically transform the way people communicate, connect, and contribute. Combining a keen expertise in conflict navigation, pattern detection, and influential communication, she is “Cracking the code” on what it takes to improve your relationships and your communications.

What would it mean if you could see things from another perspective? How would teams, personal ambition, and relationships be transformed? What would your life be like?

Faith's ideas are grounded in practical application – tested and re-tested on the front lines of government, entrepreneur ism and bravery. She has an uncanny ability to notice what others often miss and is focused on improving communication and the way we show up in this world.

Are you ready to feel more empowered? To work in a high performing team environment? To have a whole lot more fun in your life?

Well to do that, you must let go of what you think you know. You must let go of the excuses and abandon some of your formerly held beliefs.

Faith is helping groups and individuals get ruthless in observing and interpreting the interplay between how they communicate and connect with others. She is a consulting hypnotist, former law enforcement officer and a pattern detective.

When armed with more objective information, it is possible to re-set (shift attitude); re-build (performance behaviour development) and Re-resource (become more agile in your thinking).

The Accidental Audience

Stories grab us. They take us in, transport us, and allow us to live vicariously and visually through another’s experience. But have you ever considered how the stories you tell yourself are impacting your ability to lead, communicate and even believe in yourself and your own identity. People are attracted to stories, “because we’re social creatures and this is how we relate to other people.” It is also how we influence and/or are influenced by others. It’s no surprise. We humans have been communicating through stories for upwards of 20,000 years, back when our flat screens were cave walls. Centuries ago, people passed information from one person to another via storytelling long before they could read or write. As a result, today our brains are hardwired to listen to and respond to stories.
Stories form the very fabric of what we think and how we think and if you are not telling the story, then you are likely the audience of someone else’s – perhaps even accidentally.

Life under the limbo bar Humour & Stress Management)

The limbo game of life can affect us. It is easy to keep things in perspective when the limbo bar is high in the air—life coasting along smoothly and without hazard, not too many decisions to be made, minimal demands, no one agitating or making us crazy. But what happens when the bar gets lower and requires more tactical maneuvering than we’re used to; when our effortless existence and well-laid plans start to go awry?

Fortunately, it is when we are standing hip-deep in life crises that we realize we can often bend more than we ever dreamed we could. These defining moments show us how to tap into the resilience we need to maintain our balance as we navigate life’s challenges and scoot below the proverbial limbo bar. When we slow down and relax our standards, we soon find that we have quite a lot of balance and flexibility within us, no matter how low the bar goes.

Cracking the Code on Influence through story telling

Good communication has always been about the story you have to tell. If your story is that you have no time, no patience, get no respect, never get the resources you need or the rewards you deserve, your first job in building your ability to influence will be to find a new story.
Influential storytelling demands that you abandon the safety of being “on the outside looking in” and step inside an experience or imagined experience with all the messy details, consequences, and personal feelings that happen in real life.
In this half day seminar, Faith Wood, will help you “Crack the Code” on your personal story with all the limiting beliefs attached to it. Then help you discover and develop a framework for improving your influence through better story telling.

Breaking out of Willful Blindness

Two of the most basic and powerful human needs are the desire to belong and our desire for significance. To satisfy these needs we attach ourselves to the beliefs of others – our family, our friends, our superiors, our culture, our society. These beliefs impact our perceptions of the world and ourselves. Over time, the only evidence we see is that which supports what we already believe to be true; and we ignore any evidence that contradicts our beliefs. We become blind to that which makes us uncomfortable – a state of Willful Blindness.

Secrets of Persuasion

Persuasion plays a critical role in personal relationships and business relationships. Whenever two or more people get together to complete a task, whether it be a social activity like picking a restaurant or being part of team, there is always the possibility of an argument instead of agreement, which is where the power of persuasion comes in.

With persuasion, there are no winners or losers. Persuasion is the art of getting others to do what you want them to do because they want to, not because they are forced to. And it can be tapped using a few simple techniques.

In this engaging keynote address, Faith Wood will reveal secrets she learned on the front line of law enforcement and family politics and share with you some of the hidden secrets behind getting people to want to work – these are the secrets of influence and persuasion.

Captivate with Mind Magic

Even professionals who “present” for a living typically experience nerves and anxiety before facing an audience. The good news is that there are several key things you can do to ensure your presentation has a greater chance of success.
A leader that can get up and deliver a well-constructed, confident presentation in front of a group of colleagues will leave a valuable legacy, benefitting from greater perception and credibility to enhancing rapport and levels of influence. Although many courses exist to help you polish your speech, if you aren’t grabbing your audience’s attention within the first 90 seconds, it may be already be too late.
Come discover how Entertainers captivate their audiences in those first critical moments. Get a “behind the scenes” look as Faith Wood, CSP, will reveal some of the trade secrets from the world of entertainment and professional speaking.

Cracking the Code on Hypnosis in daily practice

It's an amazing experience watching somebody turn ordinary people, perhaps your friends or family, into outrageous performers. The power of suggestion and imagination, and the lowering of inhibition, does make for a fantastic evening of entertainment. However, these demonstrations only scratch the surface of what hypnotism can do when it comes to helping heal mind, body and spirit.

Come explore the benefits of hypnotic phenomenon and be prepared to help demonstrate the power of the human mind in this fun filled evening of mind magic!

Effectively Navigating Conflict

There wouldn’t be any conflict if other people weren’t so difficult – right? One of the biggest challenges you can face in the workplace is dealing with people at their worst.

And, although I’m sure none of us has ever been difficult, realistically, most people have occasionally been difficult, angry or obstructive for one reason or another.

Conflict can be a great thing. It implies that we are dealing with different points of view and styles. What a great starting point for debate, creativity and innovation. But, of course a lot of the time, conflict ends up with two or more factions who dig in their heels, cling to their notion of being ‘right’ and refuse to entertain any other perspectives.

Motivating the Masses

A couple of key things about motivation that this and every leader should know: you really can't motivate anybody to do anything, but you can create the right conditions for motivation to occur intrinsically (within one's self).
It’s no secret. Employees who feel they are valued and recognized for the work they do are more motivated, responsible, and productive. How you actually instill this belief is the far greater challenge for leaders. Faith Wood shares tips on how to crack the code on that illusive motivation factor
