Bio

As the CEO & Founder of Global Engagement Consultant, Dr. Chanel F. DeGuzman combines her fifteen plus years of academic and corporate training experience to serve as your Chief Engagement Officer. She combines her extensive knowledge base and experience as a diversity, equity, and inclusion professional to determine objectives and customize content for schools and organizations that is meaningful and delivers agreed-upon outcomes. Equally important, Dr. DeGuzman works with over-achieving women who are unfulfilled in their professional or personal life; exhausted and running on empty from trying to hold it all together, and afraid to commit to what they Really want.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, two Master degrees earned concurrently from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Wayne State University; Dr. DeGuzman has the “lived experience” to be impactful in the DEI space and create inclusive and inviting spaces where learners and employees are valued for their unique contributions and individual attributes. She is married with 2 teenagers and is an avid tennis player and competitive ballroom dancer.

Dr. DeGuzman’s primary focus is to create inclusive and inviting spaces where learners and employees increase their self-awareness and pursue expansion to their highest good.

Through a self-examination of participants’ own biases, encompassing their personal beliefs, values, attitudes, and perceptions; we explore how their biases have workplace and real-world implications. Participants will engage in a foundational, interactive session that will deepen awareness and acceptance of one’s own bias, development strategies to address, interrupt and combat biases, and co-create resulting accountability plans. Through open dialogue, this session is facilitated in a non-threatening, non-judgmental, and safe learning space.

Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain

Moving individuals and students from being dependent learners to independent learners through CRT and understanding the connection of CRT and the brain. CRT uses cultural knowledge as a scaffold to connect what the learner knows to new concepts and content.
