Bio

Abe Shapiro is an aspiring advocate for neurodiverse individuals and seeks to break down the barriers of ableism that have permeate society. He graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2020 with a B.A in History. During his junior and senior year, Abe served as President and Founder of the Neurodiversity Coalition, an organization at Indiana University Bloomington which continues to advocate for students and faculty with neurological differences.

As Life Skills Coach at CIP, Abe helps students develop skills that are critical to success in college and the world beyond. These skills include cooking, time management, and organization of one’s home/workspace. As an individual on the Autism Spectrum and college graduate himself, Abe seeks to use his own experiences to create effective methods for teaching skills to students who are neurodiverse so that they can reach their full potential, persevere and overcome obstacles, and ultimately achieve their respective goals.

When Abe is not serving as a life skills coach, you can find him reading and researching recent breakthroughs in the neurodiversity movement and his plans to contribute to forwarding its message through his organization. He also serves as a neurodiversity fellow at the Indiana University Museum of Archaeology and also works as a news anchor reporter for WFHB, where you can hear him on his weekly news segment "Disabulletin", covering the latest in Disability news.

He also loves sports a lot, especially baseball and is a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and all Indiana Hoosier teams! He has a twin sister Sarah and younger brother Zeke. He also loves all music, in particular rock and New Age!
