Collin McDermott

Collin is an Independent Certified Coach, Trainer and Speaker with The John Maxwell Team who specializes in helping individuals to discover, develop and deepen their leadership skills.

He received his B.S in Television & Radio Production from Ithaca College and his M.B.A. in Marketing from Mercy College. He began his leadership journey at Ithaca College where he worked in the Office of Student Engagement as a Student Leadership Consultant. As a Student Leadership Consultant, he assisted with the development and implementation of workshops, retreats, conferences and Leadership Institute sessions.

It was there that he discovered a passion for developing leaders. He spent 8 years at Mercy College as an advisor, mentor and coach for new and continuing students. He worked with students to discover their career aspirations and helped them create academic and career plans to pursue those goals.

In 2020, Collin decided to make the bold decision to step away from Higher Education and pursue his own passion in leadership coaching and training. He has been a member of the John Maxwell team where he became a certified coach, trainer and speaker as well as certified DISC trainer.

He is a firm believer that with the right guidance, everyone has a potential to be great. His philosophy is to always believe in yourself and, in everything you put your hands to do, do it in excellence.
