Bio

I have been a practicing clinician for 40 years, owning 4 private practices. Throughout this time, I held leadership positions in the APTA, published, and became a frequent speaker and educator. Realizing that identifying and developing emerging leaders, developing the most important asset, your staff, I sought out to become a CPC. The neuroscience of conversations has become a significant part of my practice. It provides the science behind interaction dynamics, our conversations. Coaching healthcare leaders and their teams through individual, leadership development, staff development days (workshops) are an integral part of what I do. As a frequent speaker in healthcare events, the message of developing trust, transparency, and relationships are crucial to growing others. Helping healthcare leaders and their teams is a passion. My clients have experienced a dramatic shift in themselves and their teams. Partnering with them during this time is tremendously rewarding.

  • There were two that really stood out to me! The first was your suggestion to give people the opportunity to solve their own problems so they can develop their own skills. I tend to be a fixer, and in the past, when someone approached me with a problem, I jumped to solve it as quickly as possible. That worked as a short-term solution, but it didn’t help the other person in the long run. Now I know that opening the floor for new ideas and encouraging the other person to grow is as simple as asking "How do you think you should fix this?". The second point that really stood out was your suggestion to improve communication and clarify confusing conversations by asking team members "Can I summarize what you're saying?" This was a tactic I've subconsciously used once or twice in the past, but I was never intentional about it. I'm excited to pack it into my tool belt and use it to ease communication about future projects!
