Bernard Mallia is the CEO of Equinox Advisory, a Malta-based company specializing in legal, corporate, re-domiciliation, deal structuring and compliance services, infrastructure and public utilities, as well as cutting edge technology in the fields of big data, Artificial Intelligence and blockchain. Bernard is also the Managing Director of Equinox Academy, an NCFHE-accredited corporate training services provider and the Chairman of IRISS.
Bernard has over 15 years of experience in hands-on infrastructural project planning and appraisal, directorship roles, public speaking, M&A Deal structuring, programming and debugging of software, and statistical analysis & machine learning using a variety of tools and programming languages. He has served on a number of international advisory bodies and has been involved in several high profile consultancy assignments for the Maltese Government, several DGs of the European Commission and the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Academically, Bernard read for a degree in Commerce (specialising in Public Policy & Economics), as well as an Honours degree in Public & Private Sector Management. He pursued post-graduate studies in Economics and thereafter went to do another Masters in Information Systems. He also holds diplomas in Computerised Bookkeeping (IAB), Project Management (CIC), and Advertising & Public Relations (CIC). Bernard is a Certiport-certified MS Office Expert & a SQL Server 2005 MCP.
Bernard's current areas of focus revolve around works that require quantification and appraisals, compliance, IT (currently working on several AI projects using Microsoft Azure Machine Learning, Tensorflow, Google Cloud Prediction API and big data in Hadoop and Apache Spark), electronic communications and datacentre operations. He is also a commentator on public affairs and economics issues and has been invited to submit his opinions to a wide variety of international newspapers from The Guardian to Le Monde.
