Yvonne Vissing, PhD, is a pediatric and community sociologist, Professor of Healthcare Studies & director of the Center for Childhood & Youth Studies at Salem State University. Author of 15 books, she is the policy chair for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, on the Human Rights Council of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and steering committee of Human Rights Educators USA. Recipient of the Distinguished Career in Child Studies by the American Sociological Association, she does children's human rights work around the world. She studies child safety, homelessness, poverty, unaccompanied youth, mental health & illness, parenting, juvenile justice, women without children, personal transformation - and is a Santa Claus expert.
