Call me "The Positive Aging Activist" as I enjoy my life's third chapter each and every day.
During the last 30-plus years, I have frequently been ahead of my times in business concepts. My core mission has always been to be the connecting hand helping consumers find valuable information, resources, products and services at different life stages and ages, particularly for baby boomers and seniors.
After parenting, I dove into a new career path by launching a Long-Island based nanny agency. (It also provided me with excellent nannies for my two active sons!) I also was featured in a 5-page Newsday article as I went around the USA and had Nanny Job Fairs to personally meet qualified caregivers. Eventually, this expanded into a Nurse's Registry and a Home Health Care Agency.
Then, I decided that people 50-plus needed reliable resources, products and services, and began Mature Resources Network, similar to today's Angie's List and Home Adviser. Taking that to the next level, I created Long Island's first 50-Plus Expos, with over 100 exhibitors and thousands of guests. I was featured in many media articles including a May 14, 1995 Q & A feature in The New York Times called Riding A Demographic Wave, Marketing to the Over 50's. Yes, I was one of the first in this field.
Then, I created MatureResources.org, a monthly online magazine with many contributors, feature lifestyle articles, and resources. After I sold it, it sadly went kaput...
At 69 1/2, I co-authored Bandstand Diaries, about the early days of American Bandstand in November, 2016. It rings a popular nostalgic chord for people 65-plus. Now I am writing Your NEW YOU After 65, a self-help and motivational book to be published in mid-2018.
We welcome quotes and contributions from aging specialists. And we hope businesses who are interested in reaching our audience will want to sponsor our book, eBook, Audio Book and future website. Please send contact info to SharonSultanCutler@YourNewYouAfter65.com
