Bio

Sami is the Head of Content Design at Eventbrite, where she built the practice (and the team) from the ground up. She’s passionate about authenticity, empathy, and bringing people together to solve problems. Those values brought her into the UX world, and they’re central to how she leads her team. For Sami, there’s no greater joy in life than helping others shine their brightest.

When she’s not wrangling content strategy and stakeholders, you can find Sami in the forest outside of Memphis, Tennessee, hanging out with her family and the furry residents of her wildlife rehabilitation center.

Never get hired: a guide on what not to do when applying for a Content Design job

When building Eventbrite's Content Design dream team, I reviewed over 500 cover letters, resumes, and portfolios. Some were fantastic, while others haunt me to this day. Let's turn those failures into your success. In this session, we'll chat about how to make your CV memorable for all the right reasons, so you land the role of your dreams whether this is your first or fifteenth job in Content Design.

So you want to build a Content Design team?

In this session, Sami will walk you through how you can stop dreaming of scaling your team from one to many, and start growing; from getting buy-in from your boss, and crafting job descriptions to finding the perfect people, and creating a culture of content-ness that leads to major impact. If you’re ready to show your company the importance of scaling Content Design, this talk is for you.

In 2020, Sami was hired as Eventbrite's sole “UX writer” to support the entire Product org –– with a ratio of 1 to over 30 designers and product managers. She'll share her plan for scaling when there's more work than one person can do. She'll talk through her story of proving impact, getting buy-in on the approach, and nailing the hiring process and interview plan to ensure the best possible candidates.
