Throughout his 40-year career, Rich has been a leader at Amazon, Microsoft, the U.S. Air Force, Nestlé and 3 unicorn startups.
He has designed and delivered leadership-building programs—applying his doctoral training and post graduate executive education in the areas of leadership, innovation and organizational renewal from Harvard Business School, Columbia University, Stanford University and The Wharton School.
His education includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in human resource development and a doctoral degree in organizational leadership.
Rich began his career as a military officer. As an Air Force combat training officer--he served in the U.S., Japan and Korea--achieving the rank of Captain
After his service, he was recruited by National Energy, a unicorn startup in Redmond, Washington. At the startup, he was responsible for establishing, from scratch, management and leader development.
After 3 years, Rich was recruited by Nestlé where he built and led a world-class leader development and business innovation curriculum (ranked 7th best in the world by both the Hays Group and BusinessWeek magazine). At Nestlé, he was the global head of Leader Development, the Head of Nestlé University and Chief Learning Officer.
After 15 years at Nestle, Rich was recruited by Amazon. Rich became global head leadership and vice president at Amazon for 4 years. While at Amazon, he was recruited by Microsoft as global head of management excellence.
Additionally, he has been a senior team member at two other unicorn startups DigitalOcean and Knotel.
Rich currently lives in New York City.
