Bio

Peter Travis is a Queensland barrister, mediator and California attorney who specialises in commercial disputes, with a special interest in IP, IT and media.

After graduating from law school, Peter was employed in the IP/Media Group at Allens and was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 2001.

In 2002, Peter was admitted to theCalifornia Bar and began practising as a trial attorney with entertainment and media trial specialists, White O’Connor Curry. As a California attorney, Peter appeared regularly before Federal District Courts across the US and the Los Angeles Superior Court, representing film and television studios such as Warner Bros., New Line, Fox, Universal, Disney, ABC, CBS and Showtime. Among other cases, Peter was counsel for Warner Bros. in proceedings filed on behalf of Intertainer against Movielink. The proceedings alleged various anti-trust violations arising from various movie studios' support for Movielink, a perceived competitor to Intertainer in the early years of the movie streaming industry.

In 2008, Peter Travis returned to Australia, and was admitted as a barrister at the Queensland Bar. He is admitted to practice before the High Court of Australia and all federal and state courts. As a barrister, Peter has represented parties ranging from some of Australia’s wealthiest individuals and largest corporations to start-ups and family-owned businesses, across a range of complex commercial disputes, including IT and IP disputes.

Peter maintains an international dispute resolution practice in which he is retained to mediate conflicts across a wide range of civil practice areas.
