Ukpeme Akpan Okon is the Founder, Trustee and President of Guild of Adjudicators in Nigeria(GAIN).
She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in law, with honours, from the University of Uyo and was called to the
Nigerian Bar in the year 2004. Her areas of core competence are in Adjudication, Mediation, Arbitration, Corporate Legal Practice, Intellectual Property, Women and Children's Rights Advocacy, Peace Initiatives, Public Speaking, Global Partnership for Development and Capacity Building.
Ukpeme is on the Panel of Arbitrators at the Abuja Multi-Door Court House. She is also an Arbitrator with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre, Geneva. She is a Member of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is a Fellow of the Dispute Board Federation, Geneva. Ukpeme has been involved in several hearings as Sole Arbitrator and Co-Arbitrator and is conversant with the operation of adjudication and Dispute Boards.
Ukpeme is the Author of award-winning The Values String: A book on Transitional Life, Compelling Fulfillment, and Profound Peace. A Life Coach, Trainer, Ambassador for Peace, Rotarian and resource person, with papers and presentations to her credit. She has served as Rapporteur on various assignments and was a panelist at a High Level event of the United Nations General Assembly.
She is a member of several organisations, including the International Bar Association (IBA), The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, United Kingdom (CIArb.)- one of the signatories of the application to establish the Abuja Chapter as well as a former Abuja Chapter Secretary, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and a past Assistant General Secretary of the Abuja Branch. Ukpeme is a member of Arbitral Women, an alumnus of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy, member of Toastmasters International and Prime Dispute. She is the Pioneer Coordinator of Justice, Development and Peace Commission of the Catholic Cathedral of the Twelve Apostles, Abuja.
Ukpeme is an awardee and desirous of leaving a legacy of peace, time consciousness,
organizational excellence, team work and meritorious leadership. These are qualities she exhibited from ten years of age.
After successfully acting as a mediator in a protracted difficult situation, she was referred to as "Peace Maker". This and other related circumstances led to her determination to help people lead peaceful, transformational, fulfilled lives.
Ukpeme takes pleasure in good music, mental wellness, culinary art, life coaching, nature, dancing, traveling and volunteering.
