Getting in touch with our money and learning how to budget was harder than I expected once I decided that I needed to get my financial house in order. My journey really started after my friend asked me for help with her money because she thought I was good with money. I realized then that we had almost $30,000 in debt that never seemed to go away, plus our house. Just as she and I started to try to figure out how to get out of debt, she was hit and killed by a drunk driver. She left behind a husband who sustained a brain injury and 4 children. I realized then that you never know what life will hand you and it was time to clean things up.
I have spent 30 years as a Social Worker in the Human Services Field, primarily working in the area of child and youth protection. I gravitate in my volunteer life to anything that helps people build up themselves and improve their education and skills.
My skills in counseling and mediation have allowed me to show individuals or couples HOW to budget, and take control of their income pay off debt and build wealth. Plan for their future. Relate to money in a healthy way. Reduce stress and conflict in their relationships.
Most of us are never really taught how to win with our money, we're just told to do it. With over 10 years of coaching success, I've used my own experience and mistakes to provide compassionate education and accountability and assist others in reaching their financial goals.
