Myles L. Berman has been practicing criminal law since 1980. He started prosecuting as an assistant State’s Attorney at Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Chicago, Illinois. He went into private practice defending people accused of crimes in 1982 also in Chicago. In 1988, Mr. Berman moved to Los Angeles continuing to represent people accused of crimes. Shortly thereafter he became known as the Top Gun DUI Defense Attorney®. Licensed for over 40 years now, Berman has handled over 30,000 criminal cases as a prosecutor and defense attorney in seven states.
Berman received his education at the University of Illinois and Chicago Kent College of Law. After moving to Los Angeles, he went on to dedicate his career to helping those accused of DUI offenses. After he became known as the Top Gun DUI Defense Attorney®, he established his law firm with offices conveniently located throughout Southern California. Berman was very active in local, state and national bar associations becoming president of the Century City Bar Association.
Berman is also a professional speaker who has been sharing his knowledge with audiences throughout the United States since 1989. A highly sought-after lecturer on DUI defense and trial strategies, Myles has also spoken on topics such as The Art of Plea Bargaining, DUI Laws and Minors, Being a DUI Defense Attorney, and What to expect if you are arrested for DUI.
And to reach people further, Berman also wrote a book, chapters and articles about DUI-related topics. He is the author of California DUI Trial Notebook, a trial notebook which was widely used by lawyers in the country and co-author of Driving Under the Influence Cases Chapter of California Criminal Law and Procedure and Practice published by Continuing Education of the Bar of the state bar of California. His articles, which were published in multiple publications are The Rules of the Internet (1996) and Drunk Driving Defense and Malpractice (1995-1996).
In the span of his legal career, has received awards such as Criminal Law Award of Excellence (Century City Bar Association 2001 – 2002) and Best DUI Attorney (Los Angeles Daily News 2011 Readers Choice Awards). He is also served on the Board of Governors and Criminal Law Section Co-Chair for the Century City Bar Association.
Berman values productivity in his practice as a lawyer and entrepreneur. And to make sure he stays productive; he makes sure to eat healthy and stay fit – both physically and mentally.
