Bio

After a year of facing her childhood fear of open seas, She wrote her name in history by being the first African female to sail to the Arctic on her recent climate change and plastic pollution expedition to the North Pole.

She partnered with AtlegangBana Foundation to create educational content focused on climate change, plastic pollution and ocean health in effort to make the future generation aware of the issues and invoke changed behaviour amongst the future leaders. The foundation was named Provincial Heroes for their contribution to educating the future generation.

She continues to share her experiences and raise climate change awareness and marine pollution in public speaking engagements with the latest being the UN SDG Festival, Global Women's Empowerment Summit, Rotary African Conference to name a few.

She has started working on her biggest sailing project yet, to sail around the world solo and has recently completed her Yachtmaster Ocean at the UK Sailing Academy. Whilst at UKSA she spoke to students from a variety of foundations in the UK leaving her mark once again inspiring the future generations.

Sailing solo around the world is quite a challenge in all aspects, raising funds, perfecting skills all in effort to write another chapter in the history of the African continent inspiring girls to break free from limiting beliefs and pursue their dreams whatever they may be.

Prior to sailing Lungi ran basketball initiatives to bridge the gap between the South African fraternity and the global community. She worked with FIBA and IWBF on 3x3 promoting the discipline and social inclusion within the sport. Her work inspired those near and far which led to global collaborations with the same goal in Honduras, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Ghana, Oman. As media, she covered the FIBA World Cup, FIBA 3x3 World Tours, Euroleague Final Four, local tournaments, IWBF Africa Qualifiers, NBA Africa, Redbull King of the Rock to name a few. She passed the basketball baton to others to pursue sailing full-time.
