Larry G. Freeney, PhD, combines a unique blend of counseling expertise, educational leadership, and a passion for personal development in his multifaceted career. As the Director of Education and Assessments at Rejoice Counseling Apostolate, he leads with a focus on enhancing educational opportunities and psychological assessment processes. Dr. Freeney, a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor, holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Sam Houston State University, where he researched the experiences of Millennials with student loan debt. His academic journey also includes a BA in Psychology and an MA in Counseling from Houston Baptist University.

In his counseling practice, Dr. Freeney adopts a distinctive approach, integrating Gestalt-based methods with traditional Catholic values. His expertise extends beyond the counseling room, with significant experience in roles such as Care Coordinator at The Harris Center and a Registered Behavioral Technician at Therapy & Beyond. Dr. Freeney's commitment to financial counseling is evident in his pursuit of Accredited Financial Counselor certification, and he has dedicated over 1500 hours to assisting individuals and couples with financial challenges.

A natural storyteller and communicator, Dr. Freeney is the host of "Fully Alive" on Radio Maria, reaching millions globally. His prowess in martial arts, with over 24 years experience, four black belts and numerous championships, speaks to his discipline and dedication. An avid reader and Spartan Obstacle Course Racer, he embodies a commitment to lifelong learning and physical endurance.

Dr. Freeney's contributions extend to academic and community leadership. He serves on the Advisory Board for the St. John Paul II Foundation, is the Vice President of Generosity Works Inc., and holds positions within the Catholic Psychotherapy Association. His academic roles include adjunct professorship at Houston Christian University and collaboration with UST MAXstudios at the University of St. Thomas, Houston.
