Health is not one size fits all. This realization is really what inspired me to dive deeper into exploring nutrition, not for the masses, but for the individual.
We all have different genes, preferences, and lifestyles that drive our personal choices around food, and nothing brings me more fulfillment and joy than helping individuals to navigate these factors in order to find what health looks like for them. Together, we can cut through the noisy diet talk and instead, work to find a balance that resonates with you.
Majoring in both Dietetics and Psychology provided me a greater understanding and appreciation of just how integrated our emotional/mental health is with our physical health. After completing my Master’s in Foods and Nutrition at the University of Georgia, I knew that working with individuals to better understand their own behaviors around nutrition was my calling. I take a holistic approach by digging beyond just “what” you’re eating in order to explore “why” and “how” you’re eating.
I have experience in sports nutrition through my experience with UGA football with my thesis project, creating novel ergogenic aids for endurance athletes. This experience, in part, helped to fuel my passions in the eating disorder realm after discovering how common disordered eating behaviors are in the athlete population. These behaviors oftentimes go not only overlooked but even sometimes applauded. My job is to uncover, highlight, and amend individuals' relationship with food in order to best fuel their performance without taking away from their mental health.
