Vibrant Energy

In this confusing time, health and wellness are on everyone’s mind. How can we get ourselves into the best possible condition and how can diet and lifestyle help?
Rather than doing one thing well, Kate Cook, Corporate Nutritionist, author and speaker of 20 years, suggests we need a few solid wellbeing foundations in place. Diet and Nutrition are of course fundamental, but what else can we do?
Kate sessions are vibrant, fun, but with hard-hitting, do-able, and practical messages!

The Happiness Factor

Is Happiness a will-o’-the wisp miasma over which we have little control over? Kate Cook takes you through 6 proven methodologies to capture that apparently elusive ideal state in a bubble of joy. We explore the relationship to our main happiness hormones including, oxytocin, serotonin, and importantly dopamine. We delve into the difference between Happiness and Pleasure and how modern society may confuse the two. Different countries experience different levels of joy so what can we learn from them? Most importantly, Kate encourages you to commit to a couple of the strategies so that you can seize the bliss!

Parental Mental Health

Any new parent, or even a veteran, finds that juggling a job/home/demands of parenting an almost impossible task. Since of course, we always put our children before ourselves our ability to cope is compromised.
What is less well known, is how, getting the foundation of a healthy diet sorted, that balances hormones, balances stress responses and gives our bodies and our minds the best chance of managing the many mental stresses of parenthood from a physical perspective first, and then of course, there are many ways to train ourselves and our minds to deal with the stresses that parenthood flings at us.
This session therefore, concentrates on the nutritional foundation that creates a steady platform for other coping modalities, such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), or other strategies.

Be Sensational at 60

As many of us approach the end of our corporate careers, we are looking over the horizon of leaving our big jobs, still with a number of years work left in us, but being on cruise control – what if we had a vision for our third act, an exciting future, filled with health, happiness, joy and vitality? Kate examines how far from just rolling down the hill towards retirement, and a pair of fluffy slippers, we can reinvent what it is to be fulfilled and vital. Kate gives us a way to envision our future selves through Energy, Curiosity, Wisdom and Purpose, and outlines a plan of how to get there!

Restful Sleep

There is no mental health pathology that does not have Sleep as part of the diagnosis – and yet, so many people are struggling to achieve good, deep restful sleep. This session pulls heavily on the research or Dr Matt Walker who wrote a ground breaking examination of sleep in “Why We Sleep” but goes further in looking at some top nutritional and lifestyle strategies to making a restful night within our grasp.

The Bodyless Head

an examination of physical solutions to mental health and emotional issues
Kate looks at the key factors in addressing some symptoms of mental distress through physical solutions – nutrition, exercise, light.
We focus on the Head in mental health/emotional problems, but of course the head is attached to the body and “Mens sana in corpore sano” (healthy in mind, in healthy body) – is a phrase we seem to have forgotten – from in the influence of the gut (the second brain) to B Vitamins (controlling stress), achieving healthy sleep (could magnesium help?) to foods that produce an opiate affect in the body (what does up must come down) Could we at least build a foundation for bodily health to boost good mental health and on which, we could build other strategies and modalities that directly work on the head part?

Food and Mood

“Mood” is such a will-o’-the-wisp concept, an ephemeral passing cloud on the screen of life! So, isn’t it up to us how we feel and react to the world around us? Can’t we just force ourselves, resolving to grin and bear it? Aren’t some people just born in a good mood whilst others with a scowl on their faces? After being buffeted around by life’s fortunes and mostly misfortunes for the last couple of years, Kate Cook, leading Nutritional expert of 20 years, shows you just how to get a grip on your mood through the one thing we can control, what we eat. It turns out that all sorts of mechanisms influence how we feel from good gut health, adequate light, our environment and particular nutrients. We are not the product of our genes it turns out, but our epigenetics and we have a great deal of control on just how to influence our “biochemistry” so that great mood, is pretty much guaranteed!
