A fifth generation native Texan and a full-time professional photographer since he earned his degree in photography in 1991, Jim Landers is married to Robin Landers, and they have two adult children. Internationally published, Jim has photographed over 200,000 portraits, family portraits are his favorite, and he has also photographed over 300 Weddings, photographed Sports stars, team owners, TV stars, Fortune 500 CEO's, Ambassadors from foreign Countries, Two US Presidents, every San Antonio Mayor since Cisneros in the 80's and he even has a portrait in the national museum: the Smithsonian Institution.
Despite all that, Jim remains grounded, prioritizing the empowerment of fellow photographers. He is the owner of Landers Photography School where over 4000 photographers both amateur and pro have attended his classes and have gone to his events. Jim has written over 70 photography classes and over 150 classes on the business of photography. About the business classes, he said, “I love this stuff, and I’m grateful for the privilege of sharing that knowledge with other dedicated and passionate photographers.”
His commitment to education extends beyond formal settings, with initiatives like the Annual San Antonio Photo Tournament, two camera clubs, and weekly livestreams aimed at fostering community and growth. Jim's success rests on his unwavering dedication to both his craft and his peers.
With his systematic approach and vast experience, he intends to offer a beacon of hope for aspiring photographers, guiding them toward profitability and fulfillment in their artistic passions. He is known by many as a mentor and advocate for the next generation of creatives.
