Jenny Griffiths MBE

Jenny Griffiths is the founder of Snap Tech, the first product of which is a multi-award winning visual search engine for fashion. Jenny invented Snap Fashion’s fashion-finding technology whilst studying for her Masters in Computer Science at Bristol University, with the ambition of changing the way that people search and shop online.

Jenny formally incorporated Snap Fashion aged 23, and has been scaling the company for 8 years, with Snap HQ being based in London. She has received a number of awards for her work with Snap Fashion, from being named in this year's Forbes 30Under30 list for technology, to receiving an MBE for her Services to Innovation in the Fashion Industry in Queen's Birthday Honours List 2015. She also regularly partakes in panel discussions and speaking opportunities around Snap Fashion, the visual search landscape, machine learning and women in tech.

Jenny Griffiths started her software company, Snap Tech, at the age of 23. Although she runs the company day to day, she is still a software engineer at heart, having invented the original algorithms that kick-started her visual search business.

Jenny's software specialism is in visual search and content based image retrieval systems. She wrote the mathematical heuristics based software in C++ and loves communicating the complexity of software engineering visual search systems to crowds; getting them as enthused about the subject as she is.

She was recently awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering's Silver Medal for Engineering 2019, which is to recognise engineers who have made an outstanding and sustained personal contribution to the UK engineering.
