Short Bio

Jana Piske, cheerful Rhinelander and digital native. Since 2019, she has been teaching team management skills online with the training platform Fairlinked. Her way to help virtual teams succeed. The focus of her work is virtual team building and intercultural teams in the digital space.

My life in Stations

Immediately after graduating from high school, I went to East Africa for 2 years to travel the world and change society. I was allowed to live out my curiosity about social, political and environmental processes intensively in my geography studies. As a result, I changed my place of residence every 2 years. I lived in Germany, Costa Rica, Malawi or Spain. But there was always one constant: my online engagement with Taste of Malawi. Since 2014, I have been bringing together politically active and committed young people from all over the world online to shape society. Unbound by time and place. According to the needs of this generation. With the opportunities of digitalization.

Online team building – skills for the team leaders of tomorrow

We have been working 9-to-5 for over 100 years, and at the same time society has changed many times over. Digitization has revolutionized our economy and our work, and while the way we work is also becoming more digital, most leaders are not prepared for it. Chances are, your team leader developed his or her leadership skills in an analog world. Now we're facing a big change and naturally wondering what a leader needs to bring to the table in a flexible, digital work environment.
After all, people are team players online, too! In online teams, people work with the same basic needs as in offline teams: the need for social interaction.

Our team develops in certain phases and according to these the needs of the team also change. In order to support our team in the best possible way, it helps to understand these phases and to adapt one's leadership style. The appropriate methods have to fit the three actors: the team, the organization and yourself!

Online conflict management – master difficult situations with confidence

Everyone sees the elephant in the room, but no one dares to address it. In video conferences, it is even more difficult, because it is too easy to mentally leave the virtual room and avoid the conflict. Often, the clarifying conversation is postponed until the next face-to-face meeting. But what if no face-to-face meeting can take place?
Contents:
- What basic rules do I need to follow in online conflict conversations?
- How can I establish a good conflict culture in my team?
- How do I recognize conflicts in time despite distance?
- How does my team use the conflict energy in a positive way?

Building trust at a distance – Build and maintain relationships despite distance

We are also relationship people online. Trusting relationships with our teammates, our target group, or even clients are at the heart of your association's work? In this webinar, you'll learn how to build a trusting relationship online. This will cover everything from getting to know each other to maintaining relationships via the various communication channels on the internet.
Content:
- What does it take to make a good 1st impression in a video conference or phone call?
- How do I create a trusting atmosphere in a virtual room?
- How does relationship work without meeting in person?
- Which tools and methods can help me?
