Hugh Fairfield-Smith is a Division Chief of Wildland Fire Operations and a nationally recognized expert in transformational leadership, decision-making under pressure, and personal performance. With nearly two decades of boots-on-the-ground experience leading elite wildland fire teams, Hugh has learned firsthand what true leadership looks like when every decision counts.

As a qualified Incident Commander (ICT3), Division Supervisor (DIVS), and Prescribed Burn Boss (RXB2), Hugh has led operations on some of the largest and most complex wildfires in the country. His leadership philosophy was forged in high-stakes environments—where clarity, tempo, and trust decide everything—and has become the foundation of his mission to help others lead with the same precision and purpose.

Off the fireline, Hugh is a published author, fitness and mindset coach, and motivational speaker dedicated to transforming the way people think, lead, and live.
