I started my dance journey with ballet and tap at age 4, continuing with tap until age 8 and ballet until I was 12. With no money to continue, I wouldn’t resume dancing – this time, east coast swing and Lindy Hop – until I was in my early 20s. This lasted for the greater part of the swing revival that hit the west coast in the late 1990s – early aughts, before I took another nearly 2-decade break. At age 48, I reentered the dance world, yet again, with tap in 2022. Since then, I have studied Argentine Tango, jazz, various styles of ballroom, and still currently study hip hop, tap, and ballet. Twice a year, I participate in hip hop and tap performances. My experiences in social dance are too numerous to list, but have included a Toronto Lindy Hop exchange, milongas in Buenos Aires, participating in ballroom dances while on vintage Transatlantic crossings, and, of course, every live music playing swing event I could get to.
I am also a former human relations journalist, scriptwriter, and author of more than 20 works of published fiction.
