Geoff Mulligan is a founding partner of Skylight Digital, leading the IoT practice, and serving as the CTO for IoT for Jabil. He served as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow focused on IoT for the Office of Science and Technology Policy and the NIST. Geoff worked to advance the development and promote the use of IoT technologies that will improve the efficiencies of Healthcare, Energy, Manufacturing and Safety across America and created and launched the Smart America Challenge.
Geoff was the founding Chairman of both the LoRa Alliance and IPSO Alliance and provides consultanting on IoT technologies and protocols including the design and implementation of embedded systems for the military, home and building control, healthcare, transportation and the smart grid.
Geoff helped create the Arpanet and IP technologies including the design of IPv6, the creation of 6lowpan, the formation and founding of the Zigbee Alliance and has been instrumental in many key aspects of the embedded Internet – in fact Vint Cerf called Geoff the “Father of the Embedded Internet”. After graduating from the Air Force Academy, he served in the Air Force and worked for Digital Equipment, Sun Microsystems, and Invensys. He helped found start-ups working on email security, next generation Internet technologies, wireless systems and protocol design. He holds over 15 patents, wrote a book on SPAM and testified before Congress on Computer Security.
