His strengths are helping people overcome their biggest mountains, challenges and barriers which often impact every area of their lives. Gary's domino talk also helps people renew their passion and excitement in work and life as they see the potential in impacting even one person at a time.

Climbed nine 14,000 foot mountains in Colorado

Gary along with varied fellow climbers - his son, a friend, his daughter and finally his wife - summitted various peaks in central Colorado from the mid-nineties until the early 2000s. He has also hiked with his wife in Switzerland, Alaska, California, New England and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Counselor of the Year/ Figure of the Year in Il in 2000.

Chosen from all the graduate students at Grace Seminary as the outstanding counseling student out of that class of 70-100 students in 1985.

Using lessons learned in the mountains themselves, Gary gives a powerful and story-filled talk about how anyone can and must tackle their own personal mountain. Those mountains are not only scary but can cause workers in our businesses, churches and schools to be far less effective and productive than they could be.

He chronicles how he first learned to love the high country, his wife's later cancer discovery and how he and Jackie took their strategies for summitting and applied them to help them face the terrible illness that his wife endured. He includes why mountains are actually helpful in life, what we need to do to prepare to climb one and then how to actually move up the trail and not quit.

Life mountains include finances, illness, relationships, grief, job loss, personal mistakes and the like. Everyone needs practical help on how to start and keep going rather than looking at the summit and becoming overwhelmed.
