Juggling Work, Home, & Caregiving

Juggling the competing and demanding responsibilities of a career, home, and family can be overwhelming and exhausting for family caregivers. Elizabeth Miller knows what this feels like since she was a ‘sandwich generation’ caregiver in the peak of her career. Elizabeth shares pieces of her story and the mindset and practical strategies required to make a working caregiving life sustainable.

Self-Care Strategies for Family Caregivers (or Working Family Caregivers)

Often family caregivers are told to take care of themselves, but what does this look like? Elizabeth will share practical self-care tips for the eight main areas of self-care: physical, mental, emotional, social, professional, helpful, spiritual, and financial. Group conversation will include an opportunity for attendees to share their habits and routines.

Sharing the Care & Improving Family Dynamics

Caregiving responsibilities piled on top of existing family, work, and personal responsibilities can be overwhelming. Family caregivers need more help but have difficulty articulating what is needed from family members. Elizabeth will share two resources to help you manage your existing family & caregiving responsibilities in this session. Inviting your partner, young adult children, and siblings will elevate the outcomes.

Proactively Preparing for a Caregiving Crisis at Work

Family caregivers anticipate (but dread) those phone calls from loved ones where assistance is immediately needed. How do you minimize the impact on your work and your future career? Elizabeth will share tried and true tips to help manage a caregiving crisis while remaining a valuable employee. Group conversation will include an opportunity for attendees to share their tactics.

Worry Warts: How to Take Action and Take Care of Business

Often family caregivers become paralyzed to act when there is so much information to consume. In this session, Elizabeth identifies the primary worry themes and shares strategies and resources to address each. Session attendees are also encouraged to share the resources that have made the most significant impact in their caregiving journey.

Micro Acts of Self-Care

Join us for an empowering session aimed at family caregivers and employees feeling the weight of burnout. Tired of hearing the same old advice about self-care? You’re not alone! Adding another item to your already overflowing to-do list can feel overwhelming. Elizabeth Miller, a seasoned family caregiver, Certified Caregiving Consultant, Certified Senior Advisor, and founder of Happy Healthy Caregiver, LLC, is here to offer a fresh perspective.

In this engaging event, Elizabeth will draw from her personal and client experiences to deliver practical self-care strategies that work. Say goodbye to the “all or nothing” mindset and hello to manageable self-care routines that fit seamlessly into your busy schedule. Learn how to carve out just a few minutes each day for yourself and discover the secrets to making self-care a non-negotiable part of your life.

How to Rock Long Distance Caregiving

Families are often spread out across cities, states, and even countries. What are the strategies to best handle a remote caregiving situation? Elizabeth Miller will share personal remote caregiving stories and weave in suggested solutions that have worked for her or her clients. She’ll share technological options that help you be there without actually being there and offer tips on how to create an emergency plan and stay organized. This is a helpful session for primary caregivers to know what help can be requested of their support care team members and for support caregivers to know how they can lean in to best support their care recipient and the primary caregiver.

Often family caregivers lose their identity while caring for others. Is it possible to be exceptional caregivers, employees and enjoy a happy, healthy life? In this interactive session, Elizabeth Miller will help us rediscover what brings us joy and gives us the space to dust off the dreams and desires we have for ourselves, outside of our caregiving role. Each attendee will receive a worksheet, and together we'll brainstorm potential ideas to help us live with intention. This session aims to get us all thinking about the things we want to do, try, have, achieve, be or go to throughout the year (or season).

Testimonials (1)
  • Elizabeth recently gave her talk "Self Care Strategies for Working Family Caregivers" at BASF to our members of our Parents and Disability ERGs. It was the perfect talk for this audience. We had great feedback from our members, specifically that she was an engaging speaker and gave us very actionable, realistic tips and advice. I think Elizabeth's strength is that since she's been there in the trenches of working and caregiving, so she really knows what works and what doesn't. Thank you, Elizabeth!
