Dr. Felecia Sumner is a family medicine physician, dynamic speaker, and community health advocate dedicated to improving the wellness of you and your communities.
As a graduate of the Crozer Family Medicine Residency, Dr. Sumner completed her undergraduate work at Saint Joseph’s University and obtained her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). While at PCOM, Dr. Sumner earned the highly coveted Student National Medical Association’s PCOM Member of the Year award.
Dr. Sumner is actively involved in community health education, and has presented at a number of community, school, and church-related events about healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and disease prevention. She was a leading panellist for the American Heart Association’s Women’s Health Expo in April 2013, and was most recently endowed with the Community Project Award at culmination of her residency.
Dr. Sumner is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association, and has served as a Regional Liaison for the Student National Medical Association.
In 2007, Dr. Sumner received the “Faith In Action” recognition from Saint Joseph’s University for her contribution to the community and dedication to education. She was also noted to be the Patient-Centered Medical Home Resident for her residency program, in efforts to improve the provision of comprehensive and preventative care to every patient that walks through the doors of their practice.
Dr. Sumner’s medical philosophy is inclusive of both traditional and alternative therapies and is focused on patient education and explaining things in non-technical language. As a result, patients have an increased sense of personal management of their own health, and family members are invited to attend appointments. She is particularly interested in medical media and preventive medicine, in addition to women’s health and adolescent medicine.
