Dr. Cerrissa Hugie is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, author, speaker, educator, organizational consultant, and mental health advocate with a wealth of knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of mental health and psychiatric conditions in patients of all ages. She is most passionate about trauma-informed care, emotional wellness, reducing mental health disparities, and creating a culture of mental health awareness and sensitivity. She works diligently to help bridge the gap between organizations and mental health.
Dr.Hugie is the author of Cultivating & Creating Healthy MyNDSpaces: 9 Strategies to Emotional Wellness & Personal Growth. She is the founder & CEO of MyNDSpace Mental Health Education & Consulting, LLC (MyNDSpace). MyNDSpace provides mental health workshops, training, & consulting for government agencies, corporations, universities, K-12 schools, community-based programs, faith communities, nonprofit organizations, and mental health professionals. In January 2022, MyNDSpace recently launched a mental health practice in Charleston, SC providing medication management, addictions services, psychotherapy, family, & group therapy.
Using her professional training and experiences, Dr. Hugie advocates for a holistic biopsychosocial approach to mental health, which requires that we compassionately consider our full selves - the mind, the body, the spirit, and the environments in which we live, work, and play. She was recently named among the Harbour Club Future Leaders Class 2022. She was also awarded Charleston Regional Business Journal's Forty Under 40. Dr. Hugie is the first African-American female psychiatric nurse practitioner to launch her own practice in the city of Charleston.
